Review: "Unfinished Blues," by Harold Battiste Jr.
When the Historic New Orleans Collection announced the release of "Unfinished Blues," you would have thought it was Mardi Gras Day and the Big Chiefs were meeting Uptown in New Orleans. Folks in New Orleans and those in other places are still very excited about this publication and are trying to get a copy of the book because it celebrates two Louisiana greats, Harold Battiste Jr. and author Karen Celestan. "Unfinished Blues" is a gumbo of rich history celebrating more than music, but the personal and professional life of Jazz Master Harold Battiste, Jr., Founder, who founded the first African American music label All For One (AFO) in 1951. Battiste speaks candidly about his career in very intimate detail. The photographs that appear in the book are spectular.
